The introduction to the 6.5 Grendel to the product range from Alexander Arms(r) in the year 2004 The tradition of never compromises in design, engineering and technological advancement continues. Its 6.5 Grendel provides an extreme ability to hunt or competition, as well as for tactical purposes. These ranges go beyond those previously possible with the AR-15 type weapon. This 6.5 Grendel has the flexibility to switch from light ammunition for varmints in the 90-grain class that provide excellent accuracy for small game and competition shooting, to mid-weight 120- to 108-grain competition bullets. Then onto 130and 140-gram ammunition perfect for longer distance shooting for tactical purposes.

The origins of 6.5 Grendel may be traced back to the Soviet 7.62×39. The design was altered to allow for European competition and narrowed to form that of the 220 Russian. From there The Dr. Lou Palmisano and Ferris Pindel were the first to take the case and expelled the shoulder, resulting in the 22 PPC as well as the 6mm PPC, which now are the dominant bench rest competitors. When they designed the 6.5 Grendel, the starting position was that of the PPC design, however it was soon apparent that the quality of PPC wasn’t as air-tight as required. Initial research using an unspecified 6.5 PPC also showed that the case was not able to hold powder which, in turn resulted in pressure issues. This final 6.5 Grendel design draws on the PPC however, it’s very much it’s own gun. The capacity of the internal chamber was increased by adjusting the shoulder forward, and the wall thicknesses of the shoulder and neck were increased to make the most robust case that is capable of feeding the semi-automatic rifle. In addition, the exterior taper on the side of the box was adjusted to ensure an efficient feed within the magazine.
The 6.5 Grendel is challenging the standard of the law enforcement and military forces across the globe. It was first unveiled during May of 2003 in Blackwater Training, the Blackwater Training facility in North Carolina The 6.5 Grendel out-shot the 7.62 NATO at range , with only less recoil. Supersonic to 1,200 yards The 6.5 Grendel delivered superior external ballistics over those of 7.62 NATO. Superior reliability, better internal and final ballistics over the state of the technology, and outstanding accuracy on the M16/AR-15 chassis that is light in weight, it appears to be the ultimate example of the capabilities of the chassis of M16/AR-15. This 6.5 Grendel is not a collection of compromises, rather it is the perfect combination of mechanical functionality internal, external, and terminal ballistics, all working together.
Shooting with a 120-grain Lapua Scenar with the Ballistic coefficient of .547 and the muzzle velocity of 2,600 FPS provides outstanding accuracy up towards 1,200 feet. With a range of 600 yards tennis ball-sized targets will not be able to compete with this round with a flat shooting pattern. For maximum accuracy, terminal ballistics and lengthy range applications The 6.5 Grendel from Alexander Arms is unbeatable.
In comparison with that of the 5.56 NATO, the 6.5 Grendel is nearly double the lead mass allows for two times the amount of fragments. If the maximum amount of fragmentation occurs with the maximum cavity in time and the final ballistics are very convincing, all within a package that shoots more efficiently and has half the recoil felt than the 7.62 NATO M80 ball.
Affordable without sacrificing reliability, 6.5 grendel ammo Classic Ammo is priced right, so you can stock up for the range without spending a fortune.

I find the Federal Fusion 6.5 Grendel ammo shoots very tight Groups at a 100 yards with no issues feeding or cycling. Between my kids and I we have shot three white tail Deer with great results. Two Deer shot at or under 50 yards and one at 96 yards all died under a 75 yards or dropped.

I shot 20 shots over the chronograph with my 18″ BHW barrel. Results were 2598 fps average, extreme spread 86 fps, standard deviation 21, 2.5 inch “group” at 50 yards. I’ve read reports of good accuracy, but it’s certainly not the case in my rifle.

Perfect ammo for plinking and range shooting. Its cheap, it works. Definitely not on par with anything thats $1+ per round so this stuff is great to play with.

very happy with 6.5 grendal wolf ammo am able to shoot at a decent price.

Have shot about 150 rounds with nearly 10% having primer issues. These are not light strikes. The firing pin indentation is quite significant. Accuracy is okay but more for plinking than Target shooting.

This ammo will not shoot accurately in the BHW 3-land polygonal rifling barrels (I have 2). I spoke to customer service at Columbia River Arms (manufacturer) in 2017 and they confirmed that their barrels are not suited for some of the cheaper imported ammo. On the plus side this ammo shoots great in my Anderson AR barrel with traditional rifling.

Did some sighting in of two of my Grendel builds at 100 yards today. One in 18in and the other in 20in; both with 5R rifling. I shot using the 18in. Average spread was about 5 inchs. Pattern’s erratic. Buddy of mine, an active duty Army, SFC shot the 20in. He is an Excellent Shooter and had problems getting it on the paper at a 100 yards. Ultimately – for the price I may buy new 123 grain bullets and attempt to reload these cases with 123 or 129 grain bullets. Otherwise, they are taking up space. Your barrel’s may do better.

A little rough around the edges, but for the price, it’s pretty good.

Good ammo for plinking

Most affordable practice/plinking ammo for 6.5 Grendel. Not steel cored like .556 version. Will not harm your barrel (unless you burn it up by shooting too fast without letting it cool down, duh). Very well made, the lacquer is tacky but will not come off in your chamber no matter what. (Literally takes a blow torch to remove from the casing) Performance is exactly to be expected of bulk ammo. Shoots sub MOA @ 100 yards in my 24″ Heavy Match Barrel.
